MATC OFFERS NEW SENIOR ACTIVITY DIRECTOR CERTIFICATE;
FIRST PROGRAM OF ITS KIND IN THE NATION
The “baby boomer” population continues to boom.
A recent report by “The Media Audit” says adults nearing retirement are now one of the fastest growing demographics in the country.
To get the most out of their retirement years, many seniors are enrolling in exercise and recreation programs. That has sparked a new and unique certificate program at Madison Area Technical College. It’s called Senior Activity Director, believed to be the first program of its kind in the country.
“The certificate provides people an opportunity to develop skills in
public relations, sports instruction, recreation administration, group
fitness training and travel planning,” says MATC instructor Peter Vlisides. “Active learning is stressed.”
