MATC PREPARES FOR SPRING COMMENCEMENT
Study shows former graduates doing well
When the famous “Pomp and Circumstance” march echoes through Veterans Memorial Coliseum at the Alliant Energy Center on Saturday, May 17 at 10 a.m., more than 1900 Madison Area Technical College graduates will be picking up their diplomas.
And if recent history is any indication, these graduates will have a bright future ahead of them.
According to the Wisconsin Technical College System, the growth in earnings for WTCS students was nearly twice the rate of inflation during the past five years.
As impressive as those numbers are, MATC graduates fared even better. The WTCS says five years after getting their diplomas, 71 percent of MATC graduates are working in their fields of training. These graduates had a median salary growth of 40 percent during the past five years (7.9 percent annually), and an average earnings of more than $41,000 a year.
A live stream of the graduation ceremony is available on MATC’s website. Just go to www.matcmadison.edu and click on the graduation icon under “News and Events.”
MATC provides "real world smart" education as one of 16 colleges in the Wisconsin Technical College System. It serves 12 south-central Wisconsin counties through a comprehensive curriculum of technical, liberal arts and science, adult basic education and life enrichment studies and activities, as well as customized employee training. MATC offers associate degrees, vocational diplomas and certificates and non-degree courses in more than 140 programs through five campuses and numerous community locations.
