MATC AND CISCO NETWORKING ACADEMY
CELEBRATE 10-YEAR PARTNERSHIP

Ten years ago, Madison Area Technical College was the first college in Wisconsin to become a Cisco Networking Academy. Since then, 261 MATC students have graduated from the Cisco program.

On Thursday, May 1, from noon to 1 p.m., in the Wisconsin State Capitol Assembly Chamber, Governor Jim Doyle, MATC President Bettsey Barhorst and other dignitaries, teachers and students will celebrate Cisco Networking Academy’s 10th anniversary.

The academy is a public-private partnership that encourages workforce development and helps students succeed during and after their studies.

At MATC, the program supplies students with the knowledge, skills and credentials they need for a high-demand, high-wage, and high-skill career in networking technology.

MEDIA NOTE:  MATC students will be available at the Cisco anniversary celebration to talk about how the program has helped launch their careers in networking technology.

MATC provides "real world smart" education as one of 16 colleges in the Wisconsin Technical College System. It serves 12 south-central Wisconsin counties through a comprehensive curriculum of technical, liberal arts and science, adult basic education and life enrichment studies and activities, as well as customized employee training. MATC offers associate degrees, vocational diplomas and certificates and non-degree courses in more than 140 programs through five campuses and numerous community locations.
