HIGH PAYING GOLD COLLAR JOBS HIGHLIGHT MATC’S CAREER PATHWAYS EVENT
We’ve all heard of white and blue collar jobs, but what about "gold collar?" Gold collar jobs require advanced skills in business, problem solving and critical thinking. They also command high pay—which is why they’re called gold collar.
On Thursday, Feb. 28, from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. nearly 300 area high school students will learn more about these gold collar careers during Madison Area Technical College’s Career Pathways.
The event, which will be held at MATC’s Truax campus, explores opportunities in Construction, Manufacturing, Apprenticeship and Transportation (CMAT).
One of the highest-paying CMAT gold collar careers is Industrial Maintenance. It includes the installation and maintenance of automated machinery, electricity, plumbing, air conditioning and heating.
Students will also learn about careers in construction and remodeling, cabinet making and millwork, auto collision repair, welding and machine tooling techniques.
MATC provides "real world smart" education as one of 16 colleges in the Wisconsin Technical College System. It serves 12 south-central Wisconsin counties through a comprehensive curriculum of technical, liberal arts and science, adult basic education and life enrichment studies and activities, as well as customized employee training. MATC offers associate degrees, vocational diplomas and certificates and
non-degree courses in more than 140 programs through five campuses and numerous community locations.
