MATC STUDENTS HELP IN POST-KATRINA RECOVERY
While many college students will be enjoying their time off between semesters, some Madison Area Technical College students will be helping communities still recovering from Hurricane Katrina.
Seven MATC students are heading to Biloxi, Miss. to build new homes with Habitat for Humanity. They leave MATC’s Truax campus at 5 p.m. on Sunday, January 6 and return on January 11.
The trip is part of MATC’s alternative break program. For the past five years, MATC students have traveled to cities throughout the country to do volunteer work during the winter and spring breaks.
MEDIA NOTE: MATC student and alternative break coordinator Ann Goth is available to do blogs and updates on the volunteer work in Biloxi. Please let us know as soon as possible if you’re interested.
