$175 MILLION GIFT TO HELP MATC STUDENTS
Christmas has come early for students at Madison Area Technical College. As part of a $175 million gift by retired Cisco Systems Chairman John Morgridge and his wife Tashia, a scholarship fund is being set up that allows eligible MATC students to apply for grants of up to $5,000 during the 2008-09 school year. see news release

Aericka Helf will talk about the importance of finding your own voice in life when she addresses fellow graduates at Madison Area Technical College’s mid-year commencement, Thursday, Dec. 20, 6:30 p.m. in the H. Douglas Redsten gymnasium, 3550 Anderson Street. see news release

MATC STUDENT DESIGNS GOVERNOR DOYLE’S HOLIDAY CARD
When Gov. and Mrs. Doyle send out their beautiful holiday card this year, it will have a special connection to Madison Area Technical College. Nearly 70 MATC graphic design, illustration and photography students took part in a competition to create the governor’s holiday card. see news release

MATC TO HOLD CHRISTMAS TREE FIRE DEMONSTRATION
With all their lights and glitter, Christmas trees can be very beautiful. Unfortunately, they can also be very dangerous. According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, dried-out Christmas trees caused 10 deaths and $10 million in property damage in the U.S. last year. see news release

MATC THERAPEUTIC MASSAGE STUDENTS HOLD STRESS REDUCTION WORKSHOP
FOR DISPLACED HOMEMAKERS
Stress. It’s something that affects all of us. So, what’s the best way to fight it? That’s a question therapeutic massage students at Madison Area Technical College have been working on all semester. In partnership with MATC’S Turning Point program and the YWCA, the students are holding a stress reduction workshop for displaced homemakers from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 13 in room 240 at MATC’s downtown campus. see news release
