MATC TO HOLD CHRISTMAS TREE FIRE DEMONSTRATION
With all their lights and glitter, Christmas trees can be very beautiful. Unfortunately, they can also be very dangerous.
According to the Consumer Product Safety Commission, dried-out Christmas trees caused 10 deaths and $10 million in property damage
nationwide last year.
On Thursday, December 13 at 4 p.m., Madison Area Technical College fire protection experts will demonstrate just how quickly a dried-out Christmas tree can catch fire. The demonstration will be held at MATC’s Fire Safety Education Center, 1750 Pearson Street.
There will also be fire safety information on candles, lights and other holiday decorations.
MATC provides "real world smart" education as one of 16 colleges in the Wisconsin Technical College System.
