MATC HOLDS IDENTITY THEFT WORKSHOP
It’s one of the fastest growing crimes in the country. The Federal Trade Commission says about 10 million people are victims of identity theft every year.
So how do you protect yourself? Madison Area Technical College is holding an Identity Theft Workshop, Saturday, Oct. 13, from 9 a.m to noon, at the Downtown Education Center, 211 N. Carroll Street, room D-333.
Topics include:
- Seven major types of ID theft
- Why everyone is a potential victim
- Ten steps to prevent ID theft
- What to do if you are a victim
The presenter will be Joseph Campana, a Certified Identity Theft Risk Management Specialist. The cost of the workshop is $13.21.
MATC is one of the largest of the Wisconsin Technical College Systems’ 16 colleges. It offers associate degrees, vocational diplomas and certificates, and non-degree courses in more than 140 programs of study.
The college serves all or parts of 12 counties located in south-central Wisconsin and offers instruction at five campuses--Madison, Fort Atkinson, Portage, Reedsburg and Watertown, and numerous community locations throughout the district.
