FRESHMEN HIKE THROUGH MATC’S "LEARNING TO LEARN CAMP" TO BREEZE THROUGH COLLEGE
Unique three-credit course illustrates the importance of team building, study skills and goalsetting
WHAT: Madison Area Technical College’s (MATC) annual “Learning to Learn Camp” is a unique five-day seminar that offers hands-on activities to prepare new students for college and the challenges of the real world.
In a fun, relaxed environment, about 50 college professors, staff and high school counselors coach students from across the state in team-building, goal-setting and study-skills exercises designed to build confidence so students collect three college credits. They play games, such as Pictionary; design posters, create special projects and discover that their lives change in the process.
