MATC TO HOLD TWO COMMENCEMENT CEREMONIES AT OVERTURE HALL THIS SUNDAY
WITH PARADE OF GRADUATES ON DAYTON ST. RAIN OR SHINE

Live, Streaming Video of Ceremonies to be Webcast for Third Year
Madison Area Technical College (MATC) will recognize its 2,140 spring 2007 graduates at two commencement ceremonies on Sunday, May 20, 2007, at the Overture Center for the Arts. The graduates will parade down Dayton Street from the college Downtown Education Center to Overture Hall at 9:50 am and 12:50 pm rain or shine. In case of rain, the grads will carry blue and white striped double umbrellas displaying the MATC name. see media advisory

College to Provide Live, Streaming Video on MATC Website for Third Year
From marathons to St. Patrick's Day revelry to political protest, it's not unusual, especially in the spring or summer, to see groups of people running, marching or parading on the streets of downtown Madison. Yet, this Sunday, May 20, the marchers will be draped in royal blue and carrying blue banners. Instead of slogans, the banners will denote the academic fields of the 2,140 graduates of Madison Area Technical College. see press release

American Indian graduates from area middle schools, high schools and colleges to celebrate academic achievement together at community-wide event
On May 5, Madison will make history with the first community-wide event to recognize and celebrate the academic achievements of American Indian graduates from area middle schools, high schools, Edgewood College, University of Wisconsin–Madison and MATC. The First Annual All-city American Indian and Alaskan Native Graduation Celebration will be held at Madison Area Technical College (MATC). MATC PORTAGE CAMPUS HONORS STUDENTS AND COMMUNITY
AT FIRST PORTAGE SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS EVENT
Students at Madison Area Technical College (MATC) Portage have long been eligible for a variety of scholarships available to all MATC students, but this March the campus hosted its first scholarship breakfast event to honor Portage students and celebrate the campus ties to the community.
Five students received scholarships made possible through scholarship funds set up exclusively for Portage students and created by Portage community members and campus staff. The celebration is a part of the college's efforts to develop and strengthen ties between its five campuses and their surrounding communities. see press release
