WORK OF 100 GRADUATING ART AND DESIGN STUDENTS PRESENTED AT MATC PORTFOLIO SHOW
Area businesses and public invited to view portfolio presentations

Area businesses may find just the designer or visual artist they need at Madison Area Technical College's Portfolio Show to be held Monday, April 30. The best work of graduating animation, graphic design, photography, visual communication and interior design students will be on display from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Monona Terrace and will include a variety of media. In addition to photographs, layouts, publications, presentation boards and CAD drawings, computers will run video clips and animation loops.

About 1,2000 employers have been invited to the show. Representatives from such companies as American Girl, Kimberly-Clark and Nonn's Flooring plan to attend looking for new talent in their industries.

In addition to showcasing the work of new talent for area employers, the Portfolio Show is an excellent place for those interested in pursuing a degree in art or design to experience the five programs MATC offers. Students in the Photography, Graphic Design, Visual Communications and Media Design, Interior Design, and Animation and Concept Design programs will showcase and share their portfolios and resumes with area art directors, business owners and managers looking for new talent.

Photography students' work includes a wide range from portraits and art photography to photo journalism and product photography. Graphic design students will present both design layouts and illustrations and many examples of finished work such as business collateral, newsletters, magazine layouts, advertising art and package design. Interior design students have put a special focus this year on kitchen and bath design and will share Auto CAD drawings and projects for commercial and residential spaces. The work of animation students includes video portfolios of business, medical, scientific, commercial and entertainment animation. Visual communication graduates will include multimedia presentation using video, audio and design.
