MATC CELEBRATES “JAM THE GYM” 20TH ANNIVERSARY OF FIRST BASKETBALL GAME
Madison Area Technical College (MATC) will host Jam the Gym on Saturday, February 3, to honor the 20th anniversary of the first MATC basketball game played at the H. Douglas Redsten Gymnasium. Events include an alumni basketball game, a chili tailgate party and men’s and women's basketball games against Milwaukee Area Technical College, the same opponent MATC faced in their first game in the Redsten gym twenty years ago. MATC mascot Wolfie will be on hand for photos.
Admission to each game is $2 for students (free for anyone with a MATC OneCard and children under 10), $4 for adults. H. Douglas Redsten Gymnasium is at MATC Truax, 3550 Anderson St., Madison.

MORE: The H. Douglas Redsten Gymnasium was built in 1986, and the first basketball game was played in January 1987. The gym was dedicated in honor of former MATC Athletic Director, Basketball Coach and Golf Coach, Doug Redsten in 1996. The facility features three full-court basketball/volleyball courts and bleacher seating for 1,200 spectators. The WolfPack Basketball and Volleyball teams practice in the gym throughout the fall and winter. Additional information is available at matcmadison.edu/athletics.
