MATC MATH CLUB CELEBRATES MATHEMATICIAN EULER'S 300TH BIRTHDAY
On Monday, January 29, the Madison Area Technical College (MATC) Math Club will host a lecture and celebration in honor of mathematician Leonhard Euler’s 300th birthday this year. The lecture will be presented by Professor Ranjan Roy of Beloit College. Roy will speak at 3:30 p.m. in Room 209 at Madison Area Technical College’s Truax location, 3550 Anderson St., Madison. The lecture will be followed by a cake-and-ice cream celebration.
Euler is considered to be the preeminent mathematician of the 18th century and one of the greatest of all time. His contributions to the fields of mathematics, physics, astronomy, mechanics and other related fields are numerous. Among his mathematics contributions are advances in numbers theory, analysis, mathematical notation and logic.
