Identical sisters Karen and Kathy are earning practical nursing degrees this week from MATC. Wednesday, December 20, 2006
6 – 6:30 p.m.
WHY & BACKGROUND:
Kristi, Karen and Kathy began working in health care as nursing assistants when they were 16, even before their graduation from Waunakee High School in 1995. All are continuing their education to advance their careers in the nursing field. Kristi, who works as a practical nurse at Covance, is returning to college in January to begin MATC’s Associate Degree Nursing Program, which prepares students to become registered nurses (RNs).
Both Karen, who works at Sauk Prairie Memorial Hospital and has three children — including twins, and Kathy, who works at Waunakee Manor and has two children, hope their new practical nursing degrees will allow them to advance their careers with their current employers. They also plan to purse continuing education, like Kristi, to become registered nurses in the future.
See related press release for further details about MATC’s mid-year graduates and Commencement Ceremony, being held Thursday, Dec. 21, at MATC Truax in the Redsten Gymnasium.
