MATC RECEIVES FUNDING TO START SOLAR PANEL TESTING FACILITY
Madison Area Technical College and the University of Wisconsin-Madison
have been awarded $20,000 by the Focus on Energy program to construct a
solar collector testing facility at MATC – only the second of its
kind in the U.S. When fully operational, the testing lab would join the
University of Central Florida’s Solar Energy Center as the only facilities
in the country authorized to certify solar panels, which qualifies the
homeowners who install them for tax credits and rebates. see

MATC MATH CLUB KICKS OFF SEMESTER WITH “FACE-OFF”
ANNUAL
MIDDLE SCHOOL MATH COMPETITION AND LECTURE
On Friday, September 29, the
Madison Area Technical College (MATC) Math Club will host “Face
Off,” a Jeopardy-style math competition for area middle school
students. The math competition will begin at 10:30 a.m. and will be preceded
at 9 a.m. by a lecture, “Math is the Language of the Universe,” presented
by the UW–Madison Physics Department. Both events will be held
in the college’s Mitby Theater at the MATC Truax location, 3550
Anderson St., Madison. see

LOCAL BUSINESSES WIN GRANTS FOR MATC CUSTOMIZED TRAINING
Four Madison-area
businesses have been awarded $64,304 in Workforce Advancement Training
Grants to fund customized training provided by Madison Area Technical
College (MATC) for hundreds of area workers. The grants to Techline USA
of Waunakee, Royle Printing of Sun Prairie, Kraft-Oscar Mayer Madison
Plant and Webcrafters, Inc. of Madison, were announced today by the Wisconsin
Technical College System (WTCS). see

MATC PERFORMING ARTS HOLDS AUDITIONS FOR
NEIL SIMON’S BAREFOOT IN THE PARK
Madison Area Technical
College Performing Arts will open its 2006-07 Fall Season with Neil Simon’s
Tony-nominated comedy, Barefoot in the Park. Open auditions for the play
will be held at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, September 18, and Tuesday, September
19, in the Studio Theater, room 206, MATC Truax, 3550 Anderson Street.
Roles available include a cast of six principle characters consisting
of four men (adult to middle age) and two women (adult to middle age).

Singing Anyone? Join MATC Show Choir!
The public is invited to join the Madison Area Technical College (MATC) Community
Show Choir this fall. The choir invites interested men and women in the Madison
area to join the choir. Anyone who enjoys singing is welcome and male vocalists
are particularly encouraged to join. see press release
