TWENTY-FIVE STUDENTS WIN MATC TECHNICAL EXCELLENCE SCHOLARSHIPS

Twenty-five 2006 high school graduates have been selected to receive 2006 Technical Excellence Scholarships to attend Madison Area Technical College this fall. The Technical Excellence Scholarship is a scholarship for entering first-year students at MATC who have completed a high school diploma, GED, or HSED in good academic standing.

Recipients receive $500 per semester for one academic year for a total of $1,000. Awards are based on academic achievement and a completed application that includes a short essay and a recommendation letter.

"The Technical Excellence Scholarships give students a real incentive to enroll in MATC programs that offer solid earning potential and excellent job placement rates," says Lynn Perkins, MATC director of prospective student relations.

MATC is one of the largest of the Wisconsin Technical College System’s 16 colleges. It provides a comprehensive curriculum of technical, liberal arts and science, adult basic education and life enrichment studies and activities, as well as customized employee training. MATC offers associate degrees, vocational diplomas and certificates, and non-degree courses in more than 140 programs of study. The college serves parts of 12 counties located in southcentral Wisconsin and offers instruction through five campuses and numerous community locations throughout the district.
