MATC Commencement Returns to Downtown Madison
With Two Ceremonies at Overture Hall May 21

Graduates to Parade up Dayton Street; Ceremonies to Feature
Entrepreneur Rebecca Ryan and Moving Graduate Stories
Madison Area Technical College (MATC) will recognize 1,963 graduates at two commencement ceremonies on Sunday, May 21, 2006, at the Overture Center for the Arts. This marks the college’s first commencement ceremonies held in downtown Madison since the 1960’s, when ceremonies were held at the Orpheum Theater in 1966-67 and the Central High School Auditorium in 1962-65. see press release

Jennifer White Eagle as Outstanding Vocational/Technical Student

Scott Beard, Director of Institutional Effectiveness at Madison Area Technical College, has been named “Outstanding Indian Educator of the Year” by the Wisconsin Indian Education Association (WIEA). In addition, WIEA has chosen MATC student Jennifer White Eagle as its Outstanding Vocational/Technical Student of the Year. see press release

MATC 2006 May Commencement Moves to Overture Center with Sunday Ceremonies,
Parade of Graduates, Entrepreneur Rebecca Ryan as Keynote Speaker
For Second Year, Live Streaming Video to be Provided on MATC Website
Madison Area Technical College (MATC) will recognize 1,963 graduates during two commencement ceremonies on Sunday, May 21, 2006, at the Overture Center for the Arts, 201 State Street, Madison, Wis. The first ceremony will be held at 10 a.m. to recognize the college’s art, arts and sciences, and health, human and protective services graduates; the second ceremony will begin at 1 p.m. to honor agriscience, apprenticeship, technical and industrial, and business and applied arts graduates. The graduating class includes students from MATC’s Madison, Fort Atkinson, Portage, Reedsburg and Watertown campuses. see press release

MATC Students Win Top Honors in Skills USA Competition
Three Madison Area Technical College students will advance to national competition after winning first place medals at the SkillsUSA Wisconsin Spring Conference. A total of 11 MATC students won first, second or third place medals in the competition, held at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison in April. see press release
