MATC Offers Training to Help Wisconsin Businesses
Win Government Contracts
Madison Area Technical College will help
area businesses learn how to effectively compete for contracts
to sell their products
and services to the federal government at a training seminar to
be held on Wednesday, May 17, 2006. The training will be conducted
by MATC’s Business Procurement Assistance Center (BPAC) in
Room 106 at the TEC Center, 3591 Anderson Street, Madison, WI.
A $25 fee for the seminar will cover the cost of materials.
“Helping local businesses learn the ins-and-outs
of government procurement is one of the most effective ways MATC
fuels economic development.
The more businesses we can train to compete for federal contracts,
the stronger Wisconsin’s economy will be,” said Dr.
Bettsey Barhorst, MATC President. “Our seminars have been consistently successful
in helping businesses tap the potential of the federal contracting
market. Wisconsin
has traditionally lagged in winning its share of federal dollars,
but there are great opportunities for employers who learn the system,” said
Denise Kornetzke, BPAC director.
“Essential Elements of Federal Contracting” will
be held from 9:00 – 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 17, 2006. Attendees will learn how to register with the federal government,
identify which
agencies buy their products and how to focus their research on
contracting opportunities targeted to their business. Registration
for the BPAC seminars is required and can be done either online
or by phone. Visit http://matcmadison.edu/bpac/events.htm for online registration and additional information. Registrants
may also contact BPAC by email at bpac@matcmadison.edu or by
phone at (608) 243-4490.
BPAC, established by Madison Area Technical College
in 1988, provides technical and marketing assistance to Wisconsin
businesses. In
2005, BPAC helped companies win 13,150 government contracts valued
at over $292 million, resulting in the creation or retention
of 8,588 jobs in Wisconsin.
MATC is one of the largest of the Wisconsin
Technical College System’s
