MATC–Fort Atkinson Links Students
to
Health Care Jobs in the Community
On Monday, March 27, from 4 to 5:30 p.m., area
employers are invited to attend an informational session at Madison
Area Technical College (MATC) Fort Atkinson
campus to learn about TechConnect, the online statewide Wisconsin Technical
College System (WTCS) student employment service, and about new
ways the college is using
the service to connect its students to jobs in the community. The session will
be held in Rooms 116 and 117 at MATC–Fort Atkinson, 827 Banker Road, Fort
Atkinson.
At the informational session, employers will learn about registering and posting
jobs on the online job service. Information about jobs posted on TechConnect
can be targeted to graduates and students in specific programs or at specific
colleges in system.
While students can register to use the TechConnect
system to find jobs online, MATC–Fort Atkinson has added
a new job board, Connect for Success, specifically targeted to
health care students and designed to provide them
with easy and quick
access to job information from TechConnect. The board will be located near
the health care instruction offices, providing a central location for students
to
access information about jobs as Certified Nursing Assistants (CNAs), Licensed
Practical Nurses or other health care job opportunities.
The Connect for
Success job board has been created in response to the many requests
from health care employers looking for current
students or graduates
of MATC
health care programs at MATC–Fort Atkinson. TechConnect will support
the job board and is available to employers across the state in a variety
of fields
in addition to health care. MATC is one of the largest of the Wisconsin Technical
College System’s
16 colleges.
It provides a comprehensive curriculum of technical, liberal arts and
science, adult basic education and life enrichment studies and
activities, as well
as customized employee training. MATC offers associate degrees, vocational
diplomas
and certificates, and non-degree courses in more than 140 programs of
study. The college serves all or parts of 12 counties located in
southcentral
Wisconsin and offers instruction through five campuses and numerous community
locations
throughout the district.
