MATC Celebrates Native American Awareness Week April 3-7
With Films, Speakers, Art, Dance and Cultural Program for Students and the Public
This year Madison Area Technical College (MATC) is launching
a new weeklong format of activities, April 3 – 7, to increase awareness of Native American history, issues and culture. All MATC Native American Awareness Week events are free and open to MATC students and the public. Events include Wisconsin Public Television’s Patty Lowe speaking on “Discovery 3: Discovering Racism in My Child’s Classroom,” screenings of the films “In Whose Honor” and “Smoke Signals,” Harry Whitehorse art exhibit and an authentic Native American dance and cultural program. Vendors will sell handmade Native American jewelry, arts, crafts and other items during select times.see press release

A “re-orientation” and debriefing session for the students who participated
in Madison Area Technical College’s (MATC) Alternative Spring Break volunteer
programs during March 11-19 in New Orleans, Washington, D.C. and Philadelphia

America's "Social Health" is Topic of MATC Global Horizons
Lecture
On Thursday, March 23, at 7:30 p.m. Madison
Area Technical College (MATC) will present a lecture by Dr. Marque Miringoff,
professor of sociology at Vassar College,
who will discuss “The Social Health of the Nation: How America is Really
Doing.” The event, held in Room 240 on the MATC–Downtown campus,

MATC-Fort Atkinson Links Students to Health Care Jobs in
the Community
On Monday, March 27, from 4 to 5:30 p.m., area employers are invited to attend
an informational session at Madison Area Technical College (MATC) Fort Atkinson
campus to learn about TechConnect, the online statewide Wisconsin Technical College
System (WTCS) student employment service, and about new ways the college is using
the service to connect its students to jobs in the community. The session will
be held in Rooms 116 and 117 at MATC–Fort Atkinson, 827 Banker Road, Fort

“Building a Career” event, including interactive demonstrations
with high school students for
11 construction and building-related careers, is sponsored
by Madison Area Technical College (MATC), the Madison Area Builders
Association (MABA), and local building and construction trades to
interest high school students and youth in building-related and construction
careers. It is designed as an outreach event of MABA’s 2006
