MATC Performing Arts Presents Chess

Madison Area Technical College (MATC) Performing Arts’ spring production is the powerful musical about Cold War intrigue, Chess. Performances are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday nights, March 3, 4, 10 and 11, and at 2 p.m. on Sundays, March 5 and 12, in the Mitby Theater at MATC Truax, 3550 Anderson Street.

Chess features the lyrics of Tom Rice (Aida, Phantom of the Opera) and the music of Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus (the male members of the musical group ABBA). Set against the back drop of a cold-war era World Chess Championship, this powerful musical tackles the questions of truth, honor and loyalty.

The MATC production is directed by Wm. Patrick Barlow. The conductor is Jeff Peronto with vocal direction by Joshua Dupont and choreography by Robin Fonfara. Production stage manager is Christopher Lechner.

Tickets for Chess are $14 general admission, $12 for seniors, $10 for non-MATC students and $6 for MATC students. Tickets may be purchased by calling the Mitby Theater Box Office at (608) 243-4000 Monday-Friday, 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
