MATC Career Snapshots Profiles Business, Computer and Art Careers
Two million new jobs are expected to be added nationwide in professional, service,
management, business and financial occupations between 2000 and 2010, according
to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
Madison Area Technical College (MATC) will
focus on educational programs leading to careers in the business, computer
and art fields at an upcoming Career Snapshots
on Thursday, October 13 from 6-8 p.m. The free career exploration event will
be held at the MATC Truax Campus, Student Lounge, Room 142C, 3550 Anderson

MATC Using Market Research to Grow Future Enrollments
Market research designed to help Madison Area Technical College
identify ways to serve a growing number of South Central Wisconsin residents
was presented Wednesday to the MATC District Board at its September meeting.
The research, conducted by Computer-Aided Planning (CAP) of Sacramento,
California, included a scan of the educational needs of current and potential
MATC students, an evaluation of how those needs are being met and scenarios
for future enrollment growth. see

Technical Colleges Help Wisconsin Businesses Compete for Government Business
Madison Area Technical College (MATC) has been awarded a grant
by The United States Department of Defense for $348,054 to provide Wisconsin
businesses free technical and marketing services to help them compete for
government contracts. The grant will continue the efforts of the college's
Business Procurement Assistance Center (BPAC). New with this grant is the
opening of an office at Moraine Park Technical College in West Bend. see

Two MATC Dental Hygiene Students Receive Delta Dental Plans Association Scholarships
Two students from Madison Area Technical College’s Dental
Hygienist Program each have received a $500 scholarship for the fall
2005 semester from the Delta Dental Plans Association (DDPA). The DDPA
provides
the scholarships to full-time outstanding dental hygiene students who
achieve at least a 3.0 grade point average. This year, four such scholarships
will
be awarded to MATC students, two in the fall and two in the spring. see

MATC Student Wins Two-Year Coca-Cola Scholarship
Araceli
Esparza, a student in Madison Area Technical College’s
Meeting and Event Management Program, has received a $1,000 scholarship
from the Coca-Cola Two-Year Colleges Scholarship Program. The national
program awards scholarships to students based on their academic achievements
and record of community service. see

p.m., Madison Area Technical College (MATC) will welcome Dr.
Bactrin Killingo, founder and chief executive of the Meru Hospice in
