Public Invited to Join MATC Show Choir
The Madison Area Technical College (MATC) Community Show Choir
invites interested men and women in the Madison area to join the choir
for the
upcoming fall season. Anyone who enjoys singing is welcome and male vocalists
are particularly encouraged to join. see

MATC Performing Arts Holds Auditions for The Crucible
Madison Area Technical College Performing Arts is holding auditions
for its first production of the 2005-2006 season, the Tony Award-winning
play The Crucible by Arthur Miller. Open auditions will be held
at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, September 12, and Wednesday, September 13, in the
Studio Theater, room 206, MATC Truax, 3550 Anderson Street. Roles are
available for 20 individuals including 10 men (adult to old age) and
10 women (adult to old age, one African American) to play the citizens
of Salem and the traveling court. see

Madison Area Technical College Starts 2005-06 Academic Year with
New President, Expanded Programs and “Students First” Focus
On Monday, August 29, thousands of Madison Area Technical College
(MATC) students will officially end their summers as they head toward the
college’s five campuses, located in Madison, Fort Atkinson, Portage, Reedsburg, Watertown, to start fall classes. MATC begins the academic year with a new president, expanded programs and frontline staff wearing new “Students First” name
tags to offer students a more personalized welcome. This August marks the
first start of an academic year at the college for President Bettsey L.
Barhorst, who joined MATC last January. see press release

High School Grads Get Head Start on College This Fall
at Week-Long Learning "Camp"
A group of recent high school
graduates will attend a special learning “camp” this week designed
to prepare them for their first year at college, which begins on August 29.
The “Learning
to Learn” Camp runs five days, from August 15 through 19, with
follow up weekly discussion sessions throughout the fall semester. Students
will practice skill development exercises in a fun and relaxed setting
and learn team building, study skills, and academic and personal goal
setting. Students who complete the camp and attend the follow-up sessions
receive three college credits. see

Madison Area Technical College Campuses Welcome
New Students
at "New Student Daze"
Madison Area Technical College
(MATC) will welcome new students at “New Student Daze” events
scheduled at each of the college’s five regional campuses. New Student
Daze offers “one
stop shopping” to help students prepare for the new school year,
which begins August 29. At the event, new students can obtain “one-card” student
identification cards, email and computer access accounts, parking passes,
bus passes and buy books. see
