MATC Global Horizons Hosts "Struggle for
Justice" Photo Display
As part of its Global Horizons Lecture
Series on Immigration and Migration, Madison Area Technical College is
hosting “Struggle
for Justice,” a photo display incorporating historical and contemporary
photographs of people struggling for peace and justice in the world.
The photographs will be on display through June 30 in MATC’s Truax
Library, 3550 Anderson St., Madison, on the second floor. see

MATC Starts Construction Projects at Truax and Commercial Ave.
in May
Madison Area Technical College (MATC) will begin several
construction projects mid May at its Truax and Commercial Avenue locations
to increase space and upgrade facilities. As a result, parking and public
entrances at Truax near the District Administration Building adjacent
to Anderson Street will be closed over the summer. see

to national competition after winning first place medals at the statewide
Career Skills Expo held recently at the Alliant Energy Center in Madison. see

MATC Faculty Members Receive Distinguished Teacher Awards
The Madison Area Technical College (MATC) Foundation
honored four faculty members during the college’s commencement
ceremony May 14. Baking instructor Maureen “Punky” Egan,
Spanish instructor Kate Grovergrys, meeting and event management
instructor Janet Sperstad
and mathematics instructor Jeganathan Sriskandarajah each received
the Distinguished Teacher Award for 2005. see

MATC Industrial Controls Final
Exam: “A Fight to the Death”
Students Demonstrate Industrial Robot Skills in Battlebot
Competition This Friday
For one class at MATC, the final exam
will be a fight to the death … literally … until one battlebot
dies or both robot batteries go dead. The winning team will receive an “A” for
the final project. The loser – well, it will be up to the spectators
to give them a “thumbs up” or “thumbs down.” see

MATC 2005 Commencement Ceremony to Include Live
Video Feed Among Other "Firsts"
Ceremony for 3,405 graduates may be viewed on college website
Madison
Area Technical College (MATC) will recognize 3,405 graduates at its commencement
ceremony on Saturday, May 14, 2005. The
ceremony begins at 10 a.m. at the Veterans Memorial Coliseum at the Alliant
Energy Center of Dane County located off John Nolen Drive in Madison.
The graduating class includes students from MATC’s Madison campus,
as well as its Fort Atkinson, Portage, Reedsburg and Watertown campuses. see
