Generation Mix National Awareness Tour to Stop at MATC Downtown as Only Stop in Wisconsin
The Madison Area Technical College (MATC) Downtown Education Center will be the only Wisconsin site to host Generation Mix tour activities during the historic 5-week, 8,000-mile journey of five multiracial young adults to raise awareness of America’s mixed race baby boom. All events take place at MATC’s Downtown Education Center, 211 N. Carroll St. in the 1st floor atrium on Wednesday, May 4, from 3-7 p.m. see press release

First ESL/Nursing Assistant Class to Graduate from MATC
Specialized Curriculum Helps Immigrants Reclaim Careers and Prepare for Jobs to Help Fill Local Healthcare Worker Shortage
In May, a small group of nursing assistant students will be the first class to graduate from a specialized program at Madison Area Technical College (MATC) that combines Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) training with English as a Second Language (ESL) instruction. Many of the students hope graduation from this program will allow them to return to careers in healthcare left behind when they immigrated to this country. see press release

Disney Institute Brings Program on Leadership, Management, Service and Loyalty to Appleton
Disney Institute is bringing its renowned professional development program, “The Disney Keys to Success”, to Appleton on May 10 at the Radisson Paper Valley Hotel in Appleton. Sponsored by Madison Area Technical College, the full-day event will offer area business professionals a chance to discover the business behind the Disney magic. Participants can register for one or all of the program sessions that will introduce them to innovative Disney business strategies they can easily implement in their own organizations. see press release

MATC Women in Computer Information Technology Expo Held April 27
According to the National Science Foundation, women occupy only 13% of computer science jobs and just under 25% of science and engineering jobs in the government and private sector. MATC is coordinating this expo to help interest its female students in information technology. see press release

MATC Community Show Choir Presents
Spring Super Show 2005: A Disney and Gershwin Spectacular
Madison Area Technical College (MATC) Community Show Choir will showcase some of America’s best-loved songs at their Spring Super Show 2005 this May. “A Disney and Gershwin Spectacular” will feature selected songs from Disney movies including “When You Believe” (from The Prince of Egypt) and “Looking Through Your Eyes” (from Camelot) and songs by popular composers George and Ira Gershwin including “Someone to Watch Over Me” and “Strike Up the Band.” see press release

Join MATC Culinary Arts Department for an "Evening of Good Taste”
“An Evening of Good Taste” will showcase the work of students in Madison Area Technical College’s Culinary Arts Program. The event will be held from 7 to 10 p.m. on Friday, April 22, at the Lussier Family Heritage Center, 3101 Lake Farm Road, Madison. The evening will feature samplings of gourmet foods and dessert items prepared by the students under the direction of MATC chef instructors. see press release

John Johnson and Paul Short, Chef Instructors in Madison Area Technical College’s Culinary Arts Program, earned Silver Medals at the recent American Culinary Federation (ACF) Mystery Basket annual competition in Milwaukee. see press release

Author Agate Nesaule and Canada’s former Ambassador to Jordan, Michael James Molloy, to speak

As part of its Global Horizons Lecture Series on Immigration and Migration, Madison Area Technical College welcomes two guest speakers in April who will discuss global issues of immigration. Both lectures are free and open to the public. see press release
