MATC Performing Arts Presents You Can't
Take It With You
Madison Area Technical College (MATC) Performing Arts brings Kaufman
and Hart’s classic comedy, You Can’t Take It With
You, to the Mitby Theater. Performances are scheduled for March
4, 5, 11, and 12 at 8:00 p.m. and March 6 and 13 at 3:00 p.m.
The Mitby Theater is located on the Truax Campus, 3550 Anderson
Street, in Madison.
You Can’t Take It With You is a well-loved Pulitzer Prize
winning comedy that was also adapted for the big screen in Frank
Capra’s 1938 movie version, starring James Stewart and Lionel
Barrymore. The play unfolds as Alice, of the eccentric Sycamore
family, falls in love with her boss, Tony, of the wealthy and self-important
Kirby family. When the two families meet for dinner, the sparks
fly.
Audiences will be drawn to this hilarious send-up of capitalism
and anarchism. The light-hearted romp is also a fine exploration
of the age-old dilemma of conformity versus non-conformity. Audiences
of all ages and creeds can relate to the diverse cast of characters.
The beautiful 976-seat Mitby Theater will host the production
with a large and lively 19-person cast, directed by Michael
J. Lussenden,
communication arts instructor. Tickets are available to the public
for $10 general admission, $8 for seniors and $6 for students
and may be purchased by calling the Mitby Theater Box Office
at (608)
243-4000 Monday- Friday, 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
