MATC to Sponsor Business Improvement Workshop
Based on Baldrige Process
Madison Area Technical College (MATC) will sponsor an interactive
workshop to help area organizations build a solid foundation
for organization-wide improvement. The “Baldrige Preparation
Workshop: The Path to Organizational Excellence” focuses
on helping organizations conduct a self-assessment to start them
on the journey to continuous improvement by integrating effective
planning techniques with the data needed to improve business
results. The workshop can help an enterprise meet increasing
business challenges by incorporating Baldrige-based criterion
and core values into an organization’s business practices.
The workshop, offered in collaboration with the Wisconsin Forward
Award, will be held Thursday, April 7, 8:30 am to 4 pm, at
MATC’s Downtown Education Center, 211 N. Carroll Street.
The $195 fee, which includes lunch and materials, covers the first
two registrants from an organization, with each additional person
charged $175.
The workshop will assist organizations that want to apply for the
Wisconsin Forward Award or those that simply want to identify strengths
and gaps to improve organizational systems. Keith Clark, MATC faculty
member and Wisconsin Forward Award Examiner, will lead the workshop.
Wisconsin Forward Award (WFA) serves to advance the competitive
advantage of Wisconsin organizations by providing opportunities
to assess their operations against established standards modeled
after the internationally recognized Baldrige Criteria for Performance
Excellence. Whether large or small, in business, education, health
care or manufacturing, WFA encourages and supports future-thinking
Wisconsin enterprises in their quest for customer-focused quality
and excellence in performance management by providing education,
assessment tools and recognition.
Several south-central Wisconsin organizations have participated
in the WFA process, including Promega Corporation, Wisconsin Department
of Transportation and the Office of the Wisconsin State Public
Defender (all of Madison); HUFCOR (Janesville); and Richland Center
Foundry.
Given the interactive nature of both of these sessions, space
is limited. Early registration is encouraged. For more information
or to register, contact Madison Area Technical College at 608
