MATC District Board Selects Finalists in College President Search;
Two Candidates to Visit Campus Oct. 27–29
Madison, WI . . The Madison Area Technical College District Board (MATC) has announced that it has selected two finalists for the position of college president: Dr. Bettsey L Barhorst, current president Hawkeye Community College, Waterloo, IA; and Dr. Ron D. Wright, current president Cincinnati State Technical and Community College, Cincinnati, OH. The candidates will visit MATC Oct. 27-29 to meet with staff, faculty, students, donors and local business, government, educational and community leaders. see press release

AREA TECHNICAL COLLEGE DISTRICT BOARD SETS 2004-05 PROPERTY TAX LEVY
At
its October 13 meeting, the Madison Area Technical College (MATC)
District
Board voted to levy a property tax levy of $70,467,595. The board established
a mill rate of 1.31242, a decrease of 3.72% from last year’s mill
rate of 1.36310. For each $100,000 of value, property owners will pay
approximately $131.24, or $5.07 less than last year, to support MATC. see

A four-year education is not always required to earn a good
salary. Many graduates of the technical and industrial programs from
Madison Area Technical College (MATC) are able to find work with a
starting salary between $22,000-$30,000 and an earning potential of
$50,000 and up with two years of college. see
