MATC PRINTING AND PUBLISHING PROGRAM RECEIVES TWO STATE AWARDS
Madison Area Technical College (MATC) Printing and Publishing Program has won two honors for outstanding achievement in the fourth annual Graphic Excellence Awards, a statewide printing competition hosted by the Printing Industries of Wisconsin, the state’s trade association for printing and graphic arts. see press release

MATC FACULTY MEMBERS RECEIVE DISTINGUISHED TEACHING AWARDS
The Madison Area Technical College (MATC) Foundation honored three faculty members during the college’s spring commencement ceremony in May. English instructor Mike Irwin, automotive instructor James Miller and biology/microbiology instructor Janet Romich each received the Distinguished Teacher Award for 2004. see press release

MATC RECEIVES APPROVAL TO OFFER NEW CYBER SECURITY DEGREE
Madison Area Technical College (MATC) has received final approval from the Wisconsin Technical College System Board to begin to offer a new Information Technology Network Security Specialist Associate Degree program this fall in an effort to help local businesses combat the proliferation and cost of computer viruses. In February 2004 alone, computer viruses and worms attacking the Internet and crippling websites cost businesses up to $83 billion worldwide, according to industry estimates.see press release

HIGH SCHOOL EQUIVALENCY COMPLETION CEREMONY

MATC High School Equivalency Completion Ceremony; Mitby Theater, Truax location, 3550 Anderson St. Madison; Thursday, June 10, 7 pm...Among these students are about 60 from throughout the 12-county MATC District who participated in the federally funded HEP(High School Equivalency Program) program designed specifically for migrant and seasonal farm workers and their adult children age 18 1/2 or older. see press release

TWO MATC DENTAL HYGIENE STUDENTS RECEIVE
WISCONSIN DENTAL FOUNDATION SCHOLARSHIPS
Two students from Madison Area Technical College’s Dental Hygienist program have received Wisconsin Dental Foundation scholarships awarded to outstanding dental hygiene students attending colleges throughout the state. Scholarships are based on academic achievement and financial need. This year, 17 Wisconsin students received scholarships.

MATC HONORS ABOUT 100 AT HIGH SCHOOL EQUIVALENCY COMPLETION CEREMONY
Madison Area Technical College will hold its 12h Annual High School Completion Recognition Ceremony on Thursday, June 10, at 7 pm in the Mitby Theater at MATC–Truax, 3550 Anderson Street. The cap and gown ceremony honors students who have completed requirements for a high school option, including the High School Equivalency Diploma (HSED), the General Educational Development (GED) certificate, the External Diploma Program (EDP) and the High School Equivalency Program (HEP). A reception in the cafeteria will follow the ceremony. see press release
