HOLDS INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY CAREER
OPEN HOUSE
Madison Area Technical
College (MATC) will hold an Open House focusing on information technology
security, networking, systems administration and programming careers on
Wednesday, July 28 from 3:30-7:30 pm at the MATC Cisco Networking Center,
McAllen Truax Business Park, 1802 Wright Street (adjacent to MATCs
Truax Campus parking lot.)
The event will
offer both current IT professionals and those interested in careers in
the information technology field an opportunity to tour the McAllen Center,
see hands-on demonstrations, wireless equipment, lab simulations and explore
classes, certificates and programs to upgrade skills. MATC instructors
and alumni will be also available to answer questions.
IT security
specialist has been named the hottest job by IT Management, states
Nina Milbauer, MATC computer information instructor. In addition, network
and computer systems administrators and network systems and data communications
analysts are the fourth and fifth Fastest Growing Occupations, according
to the U.S. Department of Labor, Bureau of Labor Statistics.
MATC offers short-term
certificates in web programming, Microsoft Visual Studio.Net, Microsoft
Certified Systems Administrator, Oracle Certified Professional and IT
System Security. MATC also offers two-year associate degrees in Web Analyst/Programmer;
Programmer/Analyst, Network Specialist, Systems Administration Specialist
and Network Security Specialists to meet the demand in these fields.
MATC is the second largest of the Wisconsin Technical College Systems
16 colleges. It provides a comprehensive curriculum of technical, liberal
arts and science, adult basic education and life enrichment studies and
activities, as well as customized employee training. MATC awards associate
degrees, vocational diplomas and certificates, and offers non-degree courses.
The college serves all or parts of 12 counties located in south-central
Wisconsin and offers instruction through five campuses and various other
locations throughout the district.
