GROUP HONORS AREA POLICE OFFICERS
The
Criminal Justice Association (CJA), a club for law enforcement students
at Madison Area Technical College (MATC), and Gary Pechmann of Pechmann
Memorials in Madison, recently donated a memorial recognizing fallen police
officers to the college.see

TECHNICAL COLLEGE STARTS 2004-05 ACADEMIC YEAR WITH UPWARD ENROLLMENT
TRENDS AND NEW DEGREES, SHORT-TERM CERTIFICATES
Madison
Area Technical College (MATC) begins its new school year next Monday,
August 23, with upward enrollment trends and new offerings in information
technology (IT), business, applied engineering, science, health, hospitality
and travel. Preliminary data show enrollments are up from the same time
last year by more than 4% for students registering for degree credit classes.
In addition, more students also are registering for non-degree classes
than in the prior year. MATC typically serves about 50,000 students each
year.

MATC PERFORMING
ARTS HOLDS AUDITIONS FOR SHADOW BOX
Madison Area
Technical College Performing Arts is holding auditions for its first production
of the 2004-2005 season, the Pulitzer Prize-winning play, Shadow Box.
Open auditions will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, September 7, and Wednesday,
September 8, in the Studio Theater, room 206, MATC Truax, 3550 Anderson
Street. Roles are available for nine to 10 individuals including four
men (one adolescent) and four women (one elderly) to play family members.

BAYRD, MOSLEY
JOIN MATC DISTRICT BOARD;
ASHLEY RE-ELECTED AS CHAIR, MCGOWAN ELECTED VICE-CHAIR
At
its annual organizational meeting held in July, the MATC District Board
gained two new members, Carousel Andrea Bayrd and Darnella Mosley.
In addition, John Ashley began serving his second three-year term
on the board and was re-elected board chair.see

RESIDENT LINDA CHRISTMAN RECOGNIZED
BY MADISON AREA TECHNICAL COLLEGE
Madison Area Technical
College has announced that Reedsburg resident Linda Christman is the initial
honoree for the newly created MATC District Board of Trustees Endowed
Fund. Christman, a long-time MATC trustee, announced plans earlier this
year to retire from the college's governing board. Her record of leadership
and service over the past fifteen years, 1989-2004, inspired colleagues
to establish the Board of Trustees Endowed Scholarship Fund in the MATC
Foundation.see

INSTITUTE SELECTS MADISON AREA TECHNICAL COLLEGE
TO SPONSOR TRAINING PROGRAM IN WISCONSIN
The Disney Institute, which offers professional development programs
in Disney-style leadership and business practices, has selected
Madison Area Technical College (MATC) to sponsor The Disney Keys
to Excellence programs being offered throughout Wisconsin. As part
of this arrangement, MATC will promote and organize two sessions of the
full-day Disney training program to be held September 29, 2004 in Milwaukee
at the Pfister Hotel and September 30, 2004 at Monona Terrace in Madison.see
