National
Science Foundation Funds New Cyber Security Curriculum; MATC Participates
with 7 Midwest Colleges in $3 Million Award
The National Science Foundation has awarded Madison Area Technical (MATC)
a 4-year grant to develop new curriculum and offer classes in cyber security
to help develop and educate information technology security professionals.
MATC represents Wisconsin as one of seven colleges in a five-state region
(Illinois, Ohio, Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin) participating in this
$3 million grant, which will create the first comprehensive information
technology security center in the Midwest. see

Class and Social Science Instructor Featured in Time Magazine
Madison
Area Technical College (MATC) has made Time magazines Nov. 24, 2003
issue in an article focusing on a unique class taught by social sciences
instructor Marline Pearson. The article, Relationships 101 in the magazines
Society section, was researched by Time staff reporter, Rebecca Winters.
Winters visited Madison for two days in February to interview Pearson
and her students and observe her class, Couple Relationships. see

Career Snapshots Seminar Profiles Technical and Industrial Careers
A four-year education is not
always required to earn a good salary. Many graduates of the technical
and industrial programs from Madison Area Technical College (MATC) are
able to find work with a starting salary between $22,000-$30,000 and an
earning potential of $50,000 and up with two years of college.

MATC Dietetic
Technician Students Put Pizza To Test in Nutrition Education Class;
Rocky Rococo President Roger Brown to Share Professional Pizza Knowledge
A special activity
and guest for Madison Area Technical College (MATC) Dietetic Technician
students during their Nutrition Education class. The students will complete
a nutritional analysis of pizza from Rocky Rococo as part of their
hands-on curriculum for becoming dietetic technicians. Free pizza will
be served in class as part of this special assignment.

Free Car Care Clinic
Hosted by the MATC Automotive Club
Madison Area Technical College Automotive Club will hold a free Car Care
Clinic at its Truax Campus, 3550 Anderson Street, Center Court on November
15 from 9 am @ 2 pm in exchange for a donation of a non-perishable food
item to be given to a local food pantry. Clinic visitors should follow
signs guiding them to find Center Court at the rear of the Truax building.
