Global Horizons Series on Japan
Madison Area Technical
Colleges Global Horizons Series for spring is focusing on the culture
and economy of modern Japan and will feature the following events held
from April 7 to 12:
The Japanese
Film Festival from April 7 to 12 features nine award winning
Japanese films ranging from black and white to stunning color animation.
Includes a keynote address by the dean of Japanese arts critics,
Dr. Donald Richie. Films are held on MATCs Truax (3550 Anderson
St., Madison) and Downtown (211 N. Carroll St., Madison) locations. The

The Doing
Business with Japan Symposium is a one-day conference held at
MATC Truax location in room 142AB, April 10 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
For business professionals and students interested in learning more about
Japanese trade and the global economy. Admission before April 1 is free
for students and educators; $25 for the community; after April 1, admission
is $25 for students and educators and $50 for the community. Cosponsored
by MATC Global Horizons Series, UW-CIBER and JETRO-Chicago.
Japanese Cultural
Festival, sponsored by MATC Global Horizons series, will be held on
Saturday, April 12, from noon until 5 p.m. at MATC Truax. Designed
to highlight aspects of contemporary Japanese culture and society, the
event will include workshops, performances and film showings throughout
the day. All activities are free and open to the public.
