Madison Area Technical College Hosts
National Symposium for Veterinary Technician Educators

WHAT: Association of Veterinary Technician Educators Symposium 2003

A symposium for veterinary technician educators focusing on teaching methods and current issues in veterinary technician education. Includes tour of veterinary technicianprogram area, guest speakers and workshops for about 160 people.

WHERE: Tour: Madison Area Technical College, Veterinary Technical Program area, rooms 182, 183 and 184, 3550 Anderson St., Madison

Symposium: Monona Terrace Community and Convention Center, Ballrooms A and B, 1 John Nolan Drive, Madison

WHEN: •Tour: 6:45 to 8pm, Wednesday, July 23 (at MATC)

•Symposium (at Monona Terrace): Wednesday, July 23, noon to 5pm, Thursday, July 24, 7:30am to 5pm; keynote address from 8:15 to 10:30am, Friday, July 25, 7:30am to 5pm
Saturday, July 26, 9am to 5pm (workshops throughout the day)

WHO: • Keynote/guest speakers:

• Stephen Yelon, professor emeritus of educational psychology and medical education, Michigan State University on “Lessons Learned from Excellent Teachers: Ten Powerful Instructional Principles.” (Thursday, 8:15-10:30 am)

• Chuck Kater, associate dean of professional studies and online studies, Southwestern College, Wichita KS on “How to Gain Acceptance of a New Idea or Proposal” (during breakout sessions on Friday, starting at 9:30am, 10:45am and 1:30pm.

•Hosts/Sponsors, representatives from:
