MATC Takes Literature
and Writing Into the Wild
The
wilderness of northern Wisconsin will become a classroom without walls
for two courses being held by Madison Area Technical College (MATC). The
six-day courses will take place May 24-30 at Camp Manito-Wish in Boulder
Junction, Wisconsin. Students can earn three credits in either Literature
in the Wild or Writing in the Wild while taking part
in outdoor activities such as kayaking, canoeing, hiking and rock climbing.see

celebration on Saturday, February 8, from noon until 11 pm.

MATC Career Snapshots
Seminar Profiles Science Careers and College Transfer Options
MATC
will focus on biotechnology and electron microscopy careers and options
that lead to a bachelors degree in an upcoming Career Snapshots
on Tuesday, February 11. The free career exploration event will be held
at the MATC Truax Campus, Room 142 AB, 3550 Anderson Street in Madison

National League for Nursing Accreditation Commission Visits MATC
The National League for Nursing Accreditation Commission (NLNAC) will
be conducting a site visit and review of Madison Area Technical Colleges
(MATC) Associate Degree Nursing Program on February 11, 12 and 13. The
accreditation review process is held every eight years. It provides an
official opportunity for comments and feedback from interested individuals
within the nursing community and the public at large. see

MATC Performing arts
holds children's auditions for Children of Eden
Madison Area
Technical College Performing Arts is holding auditions for a childrens
ensemble for its spring musical, Children of Eden. Open auditions will
be held for children age six to 12 on Saturday, January 25, at 1 p.m.
in the Mitby Theater on the MATC Truax Campus, 3550 Anderson Street. Roles
are available for 12 to 14 children to play younger generation and animal
characters. see

Divine Savior Healthcare
and MATC Find Creative Way to Educate More RNs
Not too long ago,
licensed practical nurses Lori McGee and Gail Commings had all but given
up on the idea of continuing their education to become registered nurses.
Both women had worked in the field for a number of years, McGee for 17
and Commings for 10, and both had considered getting the additional training
they'd need to advance in their profession. Unfortunately, time, family
and financial commitments had kept them from attaining their goals. see

MATC Receives National
Science Foundation Grant
for Students in Targeted Technical Programs
The National Science
Foundation (NSF) has awarded a grant of $264,000 to Madison Area Technical
College (MATC) to support its scholarships for full-time students accepted
into the college's Architectural Technician, Civil Engineering Technology,
Electronics and Mechanical Design Technician programs. Scholarships will
be awarded through this initiative, called the ACE'M Scholarship Program,
which offers up to $3,000 per student per year for up to two years. see

to Join MATC Show Choir
The Madison Area Technical College (MATC) Community Show Choir invites
interested men and women in the Madison area to join the choir for the
upcoming spring season. Anyone who enjoys singing is welcome and male
voices are particularly needed.
