AT PINNING CEREMONY DECEMBER 18
Nurses are among the 1,323 MATC will graduate at mid-year commencement
December 19
Madison Area Technical College will graduate 48 new Associate Degree (RN)
nurses this week, 16 from the Watertown campus and 32 from Madison. In
addition to graduation ceremonies, the nurses will honor their peers in
traditional pinning ceremonies at each campus. Watertown nurses attend
a ceremony on their campus and Madison nurses will gather for their special
pinning ceremony on Thursday, December 18, at 6:30 pm in the Mitby Theater
at the Truax location.
MATC educates 40 percent of the new registered nurses (and 57 percent
of new (LPN) practical nurses) in Wisconsin. To help combat the severe
shortage of nurses in the state, the college added 32 more slots for nursing
students at the Madison campus and eight more at the Reedsburg campus
this semester and will add another eight at the Watertown campus spring
semester. These students will graduate in 2005.
The nurses are among the 1,323 students who will graduate at MATCs
mid-year commencement ceremony to be held Friday, December 19 at 2pm in
Exhibition Hall A of the Alliant Energy Center. Student Rachel Braaksma,
receiving an associate degree from the Liberal Arts Transfer Program will
deliver the commencement address.
