MATC Associate Dean Selected to Represent USA on International Business Education Board
Judy Olson Sutton, associate dean at Madison Area Technical College [MATC], has been elected by the United States’ Chapter of the International Society for Business Education (ISBE) to serve as the U.S. vice president to the Société Internationale pour l'Enseignement Commerical (SIEC-ISBE International]. In her position, Sutton will represent the United States on the board and the executive committee, which also includes vice presidents from three other countries.see press release

Madison Area Technical College Starts 2003-04 School Year
With Expanded Offerings and Anticipated Enrollment Growth

The new 2003-04 school year starts next week at Madison Area Technical College (MATC) with expanded offerings and anticipated enrollment growth. Expanded offerings in the health, manufacturing, science and business fields will greet the approximate 50,000 individuals who attend the college each year. The college anticipates an increase this year in its total full-time equivalent enrollments, which is the number of students the college serves as calculated by full-time attendance. see press release

MATC Receives National Science Grant Funds to Continue Support of Biotechnology Education Projects
The National Science Foundation has released about $230,000 in continued funding for Madison Area Technical College’s (MATC) biotechnology education projects. In the final year of a three-year grant, the college’s projects are aimed at supporting high school teachers and two-year college instructors who want to bring biotechnology education into their classrooms, as well as expanding biotechnology education opportunities for high school and college students across the state.see press release

MATC Student Takes First Place in National Vocational Education Competition
Madison Area Technical College (MATC) Diesel Equipment Technology Program student David Rusch, of Jackson, Wisconsin, received a first place award at the National Skills USA (formerly VICA) National Leadership and Skills Conference held in Kansas City, Missouri, this summer. Rusch competed with two- and four-year technical college students from across the United States to take a gold medal in the Diesel Equipment Technology competition.see press release

MATC Practical Nursing Program Graduates Honored in Traditional Pinning Ceremony
Madison Area Technical College (MATC) Reedsburg and Portage campuses recognized the Class of 2003 Practical Nursing Program graduates at a traditional pinning ceremony held this summer at the Cal Center in Reedsburg. The 14 graduates were pinned by family, friends and supporters in a ceremony followed by a reception.see press release

MATC Hosts Biotech Boot Camp for Educators
As part of a National Science Foundation Grant to improve biotechnology education, Madison Area Technical College (MATC) will host a “Biotech Boot Camp” for two-year college and high school instructors. The camp, to be held August 11 through 15 at the MATC Truax location, 3550 Anderson St., will focus on the basic skills necessary for success in the biotechnology workplace.see press release

Wisconsin's First Lady Jessica Doyle to Visit MATC Adult Basic Education Center at Springs Window Fashion
A visit by First Lady Jessica Doyle to learn about Springs Window Fashion’s Associate Center for Education, started in partnership with Madison Area Technical College (MATC) nine years ago to provide on-site customized workplace adult literacy and basic skills education for employees. Started with grants and now funded by the company, the center is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week with instructional hours Monday – Thursday to serve all work shifts.
