Area Technical College Holds Conference for
Laid-Off Professionals
Individuals
who have been laid-off or are concerned about losing their jobs can learn
strategies to survive and thrive through workplace change.
To help
individuals deal with workplace transitions, Madison Area Technical College
(MATC) is hosting What Next? A Conference for Displaced Professionals
on Saturday, April 26, 2003 from 8:30 am 4:30 pm at the MATC Truax
Campus, Student Lounge 142 C, 3550 Anderson Street in Madison.
The conference
is offered free of charge and covers: the impact of being displaced through
layoffs, downsizing and unexpected workplace changes, as well as options,
strategies and support services that can help individuals respond creatively
to related challenges. The conference also offers opportunities for attendees
to meet and interact with other professionals who are in the same situation.
A panel of previously displaced professionals will discuss how they have
successfully become re-employed and/or retrained for their current careers.
Free career counseling sessions also will be offered. In addition, a resource
room with information from a variety of community organizations with be
available to attendees.
The workshop
topics include: Taking Charge of Change During Unwelcome Circumstances:
It is a Choice; Reflections: Myself, My Career, My Future; Survival and
Non-traditional Job Searching Strategies; Searching the Internet/Career
Websites; Financial Management and Jump Start to Success.

first 125 individuals who register.
MATC
ConferenceMadison Area Technical College is presenting this conference
in consultation with the Workforce Development Board of South Central
Wisconsin, Dane County Job Center and the UW-Madison Division of Continuing
Studies Services for Adults and Students.
