FAQs About New Student Daze
I thought I was on a waiting list (or I applied but did not register),
why did I get a mailing about New Student Daze?
Because registration is ongoing, this information was mailed out to everyone
who applied. This mailing does not indicate any change in your student
status, and we would encourage you to contact the division office
to confirm your status.
A range of times are identified at each campus. Do I have to be
there the entire time listed?
No. This is a drop-in session. You can drop in anytime, but plan enough
time to get your OneCard (ID), set up your computer account
and buy your books.
How long will it take me?
It will depend upon how busy the various stations are when you attend,
although you should plan on it taking at least two hours.
Is this mandatory?
No, but it is highly recommended. It allows you a chance to get things
done ahead of time so your first week of school is less hectic. Additional
staff will be on hand during “New Student Daze” specifically to assist
you.
Where do I check in?
- At DTEC, check in at the Carroll Street entrance (across from
the parking garage) on the first floor near the cashier/registration
windows. Staff will be on hand to assist you.
- Fort Atkinson , Portage , Reedsburg, and Watertown – Check in
at the main entrance/student lounge. Staff will be on hand to assist
you.
- At Truax, check in by the doors at Redsten Gymnasium. Staff will
be on hand to assist you.
If I haven't received my study list (class list) yet, can I still
come and buy my books?
Yes. Staff members will be available to help you.
Where should I park?
- At DTEC, parking is available in the Carroll Street Parking Garage
- Fort Atkinson , Portage , Reedsburg, and Watertown – Just park
in the general campus parking lot
- At Truax, you should park in the student lot off of Wright Street.
No special permit is required because classes are not in session.
Should I attend if I'm enrolled for classes Downtown?
Yes, you should attend the sessions at DTEC (see date and times listed
above). You can get your OneCard (ID), buy your books
and get other information on services and programs at the college.
Should I attend if I'm enrolled for classes at a Regional Campus (Fort,
Portage , Reedsburg, Watertown )?
Yes, this year New Student Daze are being held at each of the regional
campuses (see dates and times listed above). You can get your OneCard (ID),
buy your books and get other information on services and programs
at the college.
Do I need to bring the New Student Daze card that I received in
the mail with me?
We recommend that students bring the card with them to use as a checklist
to make sure they get everything done that they need to get done. Before
leaving, you can drop the card off at the cafeteria for a free coffee or
fountain soda.
What do I need to get a MATC OneCard?
- You must be enrolled in at least one degree credit course (6th
digit of the “catalog #” (not course #) must be either
a 1, 2, 3, or 5 in order to be a degree credit course).
- Have paid for degree credit courses
