Master Promissory
Note Completion
If you attended MATC during the 2005-2006 academic year and received a
Federal Stafford loan, you are not required to complete
another Master Promissory Note.
To receive a Federal Stafford
loan at Madison Area Technical College, you must be able to answer yes
to all of the following statements:
- You have been accepted into
an eligible program at MATC and are enrolled for at least six credits.

- You have applied for Federal
Financial Aid through the FAFSA form.

- You have received your 2008-09
Financial Aid Award Notice from the MATC Financial Aid Office and it
states that you are eligible for a Federal Stafford loan.
If you have not completed Entrance
Loan Counseling, go to Loan Counseling
You will need the information listed below to fill out the online MPN:
- Social Security Number
- Driver's License if applicable.
- Email address if applicable.
If you want to receive a confirmation email, an address must be supplied.
- Your complete U.S. Address
including street or post office box, state, zip and phone if applicable.
- Two separate references
with different U.S. addresses. The first reference should be a parent
(if living) or legal guardian. You will need their name, address, city,
state, zip code, phone number if applicable. Business addresses cannot
be accepted.
- You will need to select a lender. At Madison Area Technical College, we certify loans through Great Lakes Higher Education Corporation (GLHEC) guarantor agency.
If you previously borrowed student loans with Great Lakes as the guarantor, you may use your previous lender. If you attended MATC during the 2007-08 academic year AND received a Federal Student Loan from the following lenders: Bank One / Chase, Student Loan Express, Citibank or TCF National you must complete a new student loan application and choose a different lender.
- To sign your MPN electronically,
you will need your Department of Education PIN number sent to you when
you applied for financial aid. PIN

- If you do not have
your PIN number, you will have the option to print and mail the MPN.
- If you meet ALL of the conditions mentioned above, click on Student Loan Application to apply for a Federal Stafford Loan-Master Promissory Note (MPN).
