Application Processing and Deadlines

Who needs to fill out a "program application"?

To enroll in a specific academic program at MATC, prospective students must fill out an application and meet the requirements set forth by the program. For example, to apply for the nursing program, students must fill out an application, take the required assessment tests, submit transcripts, and submit a Health History Form. Applications and related documentation must be submitted by the posted deadline.

Prospective students who are not interested in enrolling in a program, but would rather take a few credit classes, do not need to fill out an application. There is no "general application" to attend MATC -- only program applications. Additionally, deadlines don't apply to a student looking to take a credit class or two -- as long as there are seats available, you are eligible to register until the first day of class.

How early can I apply for a program?

For Fall Semester: MATC starts accepting applications for the next year's Fall term on Sept 1, and application processing (for the next year's Fall term) begins on the 3rd Monday in November.

For example: To apply for the Fall 2008 semester, you may submit your application as early as Sept 1, 2007. Your application and credentials will then be processed beginning November 19, 2007. Please note that high-demand programs will close on Monday, November 19. For these programs, the Enrollment Center must receive all your credentials by November 19.

For Spring Semester: MATC starts accepting applications for the next year's Spring term on January 16, and application processing (for the next year's Spring term) starts on the 3rd Monday in April.

For example: To apply for the Spring 2009 semester, you may submit your application as early as January 16, 2008. Your application and credentials will then be processed starting April 21, 2008. Please note that high-demand programs will close on Monday, April 21. For these programs, the Enrollment Center must receive all your credentials by April 21.

How late can I apply for a program?

For Fall 2008 Semester: For programs that are accepting new students, applications and supporting documentation (transcripts, test scores, etc.) must be received by August 31, 2008 to be considered for the fall semester.

For Spring 2009 Semester: For programs that are accepting new students, applications and supporting documentation (transcripts, test scores, etc.) must be received by January 15, 2009 to be considered for the spring semester.

Attention High School Students: Applicants currently enrolled in high school must have completed six semesters prior to submitting an application. A seventh- and eighth-semester transcript should be submitted upon graduation.

High-demand programs and wait lists

Board policy mandates that qualified applicants are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis. However, if the number of qualified applicants (who have applications on file on the first day of consideration - see "How early can I apply" above) exceeds the number of spots available in the program, students will be randomly selected by computer.

Students not selected will be put on a wait list, and will be notified when space becomes available in the program. If the wait list is full, then the program is closed.

Reservation Fee: For high-demand programs, a $50 reservation fee is due within 15 days of being notified of acceptance or waiting list status. This fee ensures a place in the program for which the applicant has been accepted or placed on the waiting list. This fee will apply toward tuition at the time of enrollment.

Cancellation of Acceptance/Application

To cancel your acceptance into a program, please send written notification (PDF, 108 KB) to the Enrollment Center. If cancellation is received by July 1 for the fall semester (or December 5 for the spring semester), fees will be refunded. Additionally, if the applicant cancels their waiting list status, the full $50 is refunded upon notification.
