Academic Policies

General Procedures

Electives

For all MATC degrees, up to six credits of electives shall be granted for any college-level learning.

Program Changes

For program-to-program transfers within the college, general education and elective credits will automatically transfer to the new program unless the receiving program has specific grade restrictions. Absent such restrictions, grades of D will transfer.

For program credits other than general education and electives, a program-to-program internal transfer decision on advanced standing will be made on a case-by-case basis by the receiving division regardless of grade.
Persons who receive advanced standing for program courses will be allowed to carry this credit into a new program as elective credit.

If a student fails a course at MATC, the student may complete the graduation requirement by taking an equivalent course at another college and transferring the credit. This is the only advanced standing method that is allowed to replace a course in which a grade of F is earned. The Repeated Course Policy does not apply in this case.
