Students planning to take math and/or writing courses in
the Arts and Science Division will be required to take a placement test
(ASSET, COMPASS and/or ACT) prior to registration, effective July 1, 1997.
(See the current course schedule for specific details.)
COMPASS (Computer-Adaptive
Placement Assessment and Support System) is an untimed test which is taken
on a computer. The purpose of this test is to assess the student's current
academic skills. The test results are used for advising purposes to help
students register for the appropriate level courses. Please call the
Assessment Center, (608) 246-5220, to schedule this test. Compass test is not required if the student already has a bachelor's degree or has taken a college level English or Math class. See test schedules.
