Academic Policies

Academic Probation, Dismissal, Suspension

Students are expected to make satisfactory progress in their course of study.

The MATC District Board has several policies under which a student may be placed on academic probation, suspended or dismissed from the college:

  1. Academic Probation: A student is placed on academic probation if less than a 2.0 (C) grade point average is achieved at the end of a semester of enrollment.

  2. Academic Dismissal: A student on academic probation may be dismissed from a program if less than a 2.0 (C) grade point average is achieved in a given semester. At the discretion of the division dean/chair, a student may remain on academic probation if the dean/chair is convinced that the student is capable of achieving a 2.0 grade point average in the next semester.

A student admitted to the college on probationary status may be dismissed from a program if less than a 2.0 (C) grade point average is achieved at the end of the first semester of enrollment. Dismissed students may not enroll for the next succeeding semester or the next school year depending on the program in which they were enrolled.
