5 Key Steps to becoming an MATC student
Prospective students are encouraged to visit any of the MATC campuses. Students can schedule tours, attend a "Preview Day" or "Jumpstart to Success" session, or come on over for College Spotlight to learn about admission, financial aid, career and advising resources and specific program information.
For most programs, you can apply online or you can obtain a paper application by contacting the MATC Enrollment Center at (608) 246-6210. Be sure to check the admission requirements for the specific program for which you're applying - some programs have additional application procedures.
The free application for federal student aid (FAFSA) is available online after Jan. 1 or can be picked up from the MATC Financial Aid office. For information about available scholarships, speak with your current guidance counselor, talk to your employer (or your parent's employer!) or local community organization. You can also visit fastweb.com for other scholarship opportunities.
You must complete one of the following options prior to registering for a math or English course at MATC:
1. Take the COMPASS placement test
or
2. Complete a math or English course prerequisite at MATC or another college with a final grade of "C" or better.
Once your application is accepted, you will work closely with an advisor, faculty member or counselor to register for your first semester classes. You will receive a letter with the exact date and time for your advising appointment and registration day.
This event is a great way to kick off your MATC experience. You will receive your photo ID, locate your classrooms, learn about student clubs and activities, purchase your textbooks and meet current MATC students. Details about this event are sent to all new students prior to the beginning of the semester.
