AQIP Systems Portfolio
The Systems Portfolio is broken up into nine separate areas that provide data and information regarding the critical systems and processes in place at MATC. This is a living document that will be written, revised, assessed and used to make improvements on a continuous basis. Each of the nine Categories deal with a related group of processes, and allows MATC to analyze, understand, and explore opportunities for improving these processes. On May 31, 2005, the first document was submitted to the Higher Learning Commission. As of March 2008, the document has been revised to include changes, inclusions and improvements of MATC processes and systems. For additional information, visit the national AQIP website for complete information on the AQIP Categories. |
AQIP Systems Appraisal
In May 2005 MATC submitted its Systems Portfolio for review by the Higher Learning Commission. The College received feedback (Systems Appraisal Report) (.pdf) regarding the Systems Portfolio in early October 2005, which indicated that MATC is in compliance with all the criteria for accreditation. While the Systems Appraisal Report does not confer continued accreditation on the college it does serve as evidence which will be used during the AQIP review for Reaffirmation of Accreditation. The AQIP Steering Team is now providing the Systems Appraisal Report for your review and feedback.
At first glance the Systems Appraisal Report may seem to indicate that MATC is not the high performance institution that we know it is. However, there are several things which must be considered before making a judgment about the quality of MATC.
- Unlike the prescriptive evaluation of the old accreditation process, the Systems Appraisal Report is designed to assist the institution improve its systems and processes.
- Unlike the ten-year self-study which was placed on a shelf after accreditation was confirmed, AQIP asks us to continually improve. This peer-reviewed document provides the College with a benchmark with which we can document our improvement.
- Institutions that have gone through the AQIP process rarely "score" above the beginning or developing levels the first time their Systems Portfolio were reviewed.
- The self-study method used in the old accreditation process limited employee involvement. AQIP requires that feedback from the College's stakeholders be collected and reported back at the next Strategy Forum.
Please provide the AQIP Steering Team with your thoughtful responses to the Systems Appraisal Report as the college begins planning for the next phase of the AQIP accreditation process. In this way you will be contributing to the continuous improvement efforts of Madison Area Technical College. |
