Linking to Films on Demand

Films On Demand [FOD] is a streaming video collection of top quality video content for every department and program District-wide from publishers like PBS, Meridian, Cambridge Educational, the BBC, National Geographic and more.Students, faculty and staff have access to over 6,000 titles. These videos can be used in the classroom, linked to in Blackboard, incorporated into assignments, used for resume building and honing job skills, etc. There are 8 collections covering: Humanities & Social Sciences, Business & Economics, Science & Mathematics, Health & Medicine, Technical Education, Family & Consumer Sciences, Careers & Job Search, and Guidance & Counseling. Many of the titles are closed captioned.

Films On Demand links

A persistent link can be created to a particular title in Films On Demand. Anyone who uses a durable or persistent link must have access to the database from which the URL came. Therefore, off campus users must be authenticated as part of Madison Area Technical College through EZproxy. Off campus users who click on a Madison Area Technical College Ezproxy persistent link will be prompted to enter their username and password.

As of February 2011, Films on Demand URLs should include the college Ezproxy prefix.

To create a Films on Demand persistent link (durable url) which will allow off-campus access through EZproxy:

1. Login to Films On Demand
2. Title URL links are specific to every video and every account. They can be used on course Web sites, online library card catalog systems, distance-learning courseware, PowerPoint slides, and more.
3. From a video page, copy the Title URL located below the video player. DO NOT use the URL in the address bar of the browser as that link is not stable.
4. The Title URL should already include the Madison Area Technical College EZproxy prefix http://ezproxy.matcmadison.edu/login?url=  
5. Paste the entire persistent link with the Madison Area Technical College EZproxy prefix into your document, Blackboard, webpage, or email.
6. Test the link.
