MATC Libraries: Linking to Safari

Linking to Safari Tech Books

Access thousands of technology and business books online. Note: Our current MATC subscription is limited to 2 users at a time.

Safari links

A persistent link can be created to a particular item in Safari Tech Books. Anyone who uses a durable or persistent link must have access to the database from which the URL came. Therefore, off campus users must be authenticated as part of MATC through EZproxy. Off campus users who click on a MATC Ezproxy persistent link will be prompted to enter their username and password.

To create a Safari persistent link (durable url) which will allow off-campus access through EZproxy:

  1. Login to Safari Tech Books.
  2. Near the bottom of each page of Safari content and book catalog page, you'll see a link that you can always use to refer back to the section. Safari does not recommend you use the link that appears in the address bar.
  3. Copy the persistent link.
  4. If the MATC EZproxy prefix http://ezproxy.matcmadison.edu/login?url= is not already included at the start of the persistent link, use the MATC EZproxy URL Creator to append the prefix to the peristent link.
  5. Paste the entire persistent link with the MATC EZproxy prefix into your document, Blackboard, webpage, or email.
  6. Test the link.
