MATC Libraries: Linking to Proquest databases

Linking to Proquest databases

Proquest databases available through the MATC Libraries include:

Proquest Document URLs

A Proquest Document URL can be used to link to a particular article or publication in Proquest databases. Anyone who uses a Document URL must have access to the database from which the URL came. Therefore, off campus users must be authenticated as part of MATC through EZproxy. Off campus users who click on a MATC Ezproxy Document URL will be prompted to enter their username and password.

Note: The graphical interface for Proquest Historical Newspapers (link on the MATC Libraries Find Articles page) does not display Document URLs or the Copy Link feature. However, the Document URL and Copy Link are displayed for Proquest Historical Newspapers when using the standard Proquest interface. You can use the links provided on this page when working with stable links to Proquest Historical Newspapers: New York Times (1851-2004) , Chicago Tribune (1849 - 1986) , The Chicago Defender (1905 - 1975)

To create a Proquest Document URL which will allow off-campus access through EZproxy:

  1. Login to a Proquest database and locate an article of interest.
  2. Proquest Document URLs have the MATC EZproxy prefix http://ezproxy.matcmadison.edu/login?url= usually already added.
  3. Use the "Document URL" which is included in the Indexing (document details) or use the Copy Link feature located above the title of your document. Do not use the link from the browser address bar.
  4. Select and copy the entire Proquest MATC EZproxy Document URL.
  5. Paste the entire URL into your document, Blackboard, webpage, or email.
  6. Test the link.
