Lexis Nexis Academic links

Lexis Nexis does not yet support durable or persistent linking. However, there is a Beta tool that may assist in creating links to articles in Lexis Nexis Academic Universe.

Anyone who uses a durable or persistent link must have access to the database from which the URL came. Therefore, off campus users must be authenticated as part of MATC through EZproxy. Off campus users who click on a MATC Ezproxy persistent link will be prompted to enter their username and password.

To create a Lexis Nexis durable URL which will allow off-campus access through EZproxy:

  1. Login to Lexis Nexis Academic and locate an article that you'd like to create a link to.
  2. Create a link using this Article Link Tool - Beta http://amdev.net/doc_link.php. The Beta Article Link Tool tool helps you create links that follow the format required by the LexisNexis Academic URL API. The durable URL works by running a search in LexisNexis Academic to look up the desired document based on bibliographic information included in the URL.
  3. Copy the link.
  4. Use the MATC EZproxy URL Creator to append theMATC EZproxy prefix http://ezproxy.matcmadison.edu/login?url= to the durable URL.
  5. Paste the entire durable URL with the MATC EZproxy prefix into your document, Blackboard, webpage, or email.
  6. Test the link.
